Lucy Johns' analogue photography goes on show in London

Johns hand prints her images, using archival fibre based paper before spotting prints, making mounts and selecting frames and glass – ensuring the light and tone of no two prints from a single negative are the same.
Having graduated in 2011 from AUB (Arts University Bournemouth) with a BA Hons in Photography, Johns joined Rickmansworth School in Hertfordshire to teach Darkroom Photography.
The work in ‘Wonder. Wander. Ponder; 10 years of Play’ is inspired by the 2016 Photo London conversation with the infamous British Photographer Don McCullin, who likened the darkroom to “a womb”. Johns’ exhibition explores visual metaphors for “relationships, sensitivity, tension, longing and joy,” says the gallery space.

Wonder. Wander. Ponder; 10 Years of Play by Lucy Johns An Immersive Experience of Darkroom Photography is on show at But First Coffee, 43 Quernmore Rd, Stroud Green N4 4QP. See more of her work here.
