New York Times' photography blog launches social experiment
Olivier Laurent
The New York Times' photography blog lens is launching a global project called A Moment in Time. The goal is for thousands of photographers - amateurs and professionals - to capture the same moment on Sunday 02 May at 15:00 UTC.
That's 11am in New York City, 8am in Los Angeles, 7pm in London and 11pm in Beijing.
"We are asking participants to think about where they want to be and what they will focus on," says James Estrin, a photographer and co-editor of Lens. "Consider how to represent yourself, and your community, with one image."
After you take your photos, submit your best image as soon as possible to submit.nytimes.com/moment. The link will go live that morning, directing you to a web form where you will be asked to categorize your photos by location and subject, and to include a caption that helps tell the story. Submitted photos will then appear on the Lens Blog.
