Leaf Peeper is the result of a collaboration between photographer Tim Bowditch and writer Matthew de Kersaint Giraudeau. It portrays, over a few hours, one Japanese man "on the tourist trail around an imperial villa in Kyoto as he takes endless pictures of darkening leaves".
Such a journey is a Japanese tradition called Momijigari, where Japanese people visit scenic places in the autumn to see the leaves of trees turning red, says the photographer.
The images are accompanied by a text by de Kersaint Giraudeau, who shares "a story of insight, ignorance and blocked sinuses", in response to Bowditch's work.
The amusing result is a limited-edition book available now through Rokov Publishing.
