Latest Capture One released

Capture One by Phase One

Phase One will go live with version 5 of its Capture One raw conversion software next week

Author: Olivier Laurent

The latest update is claimed to handle large volume shoots faster, and introduces a number of new features, including an instant focus review module and vignetting tools.

Capture One 5 Pro is also compatible with a wider range of digital SLR cameras, in a bid to provide a one program workflow to photographers who shoot with them alongside medium format models.

'Today's pro photographers are shooting with both medium format and DSLR cameras, so having a truly professional quality digital darkroom that can manage raw files from both systems, makes life easier,' says Carsten Olsen, Phase One's product manager for Capture One. 'Capture Pro helps photographers reduce the time and effort required to deliver ready-to-use images with excellent colour and detail.'

It also adds raw file support for selected Leaf digital backs, whom Phase One bought earlier this year and formed the Leaf Imaging company. The update also has a new feature to quickly smooth skin tones.

Existing Capture One users can upgrade to the new version for EUR69. A full version of the workflow software retails at EUR299. For more details, visit www.phaseone.com/5.

Leaf Imaging is also preparing to introduce the next version of its Leaf Capture software Leaf Capture v. 11.2.9 will support Apple OS 10.6 OS - dubbed Snow Leopard - and features enhanced 64-bit performance.

The update also adds enhanced image processing for the 33 and 56 million pixel resolution backs, and supports all Aptus models, including the new Aptus-II 5.

It is free of charge to any registered Leaf user, and will be downloadable next week.
