Leica is introducing a new firmware for its S2, the firm's flagship medium format camera, which includes new white balance presets and improves JPEG image quality and accelerates data transfer speeds in tethered situations

The new firmware - version 1.0.0.16 - will be available for download from today.
Among the improvements the new firmware brings, are new extended camera functionalities such as additional HMI white balance preset added (Hydrargyrum Medium-arc Iodide lamps), additional viewfinder information with exposure correction now displayed, custom setting for depth of field preview button, and selectable OLED screen standby time.
The new firmware also adds a control element lock, which prevents inadvertent shifts of the shutter speed and aperture dials while shooting.
