The award, now in its 17th year, rewards journalists and photographers in six categories - Written Press, Television, Radio, Grand Format Television, Young Reporter and Photography.
The photography prize comes with a €7600 cash prize. Entries must comprise a single report made up of eight to 15 images. Entry is free.
Another prize - the Public Prize sponsored by the French city of Bayeux - will also be awarded to a photographer, who will receive €3800.
Last year, Agence France Presse photographer Walter Astrada won the photo award for his report from Madagascar. Astrada was also BJP's International Photogrpahy Award winner in the single image category in 2008.
