The G2 and G10 cameras were unveiled at the Focus on Imaging show in early March and will be released in June this year. Now, Panasonic has announced it will retail the G2, a 12.1 megapixel compact DSLR, from £550 body only. Two lens kits will be available with the 14-42mm lens bundle retailing at £630, while an additional 45-200mm lens will bring the kit's total to £930.
The G10, which uses a similar sensor as the G1 and G2 but has limited high-definition video options, will retail with the 14-42mm lens at £500.
Panasonic's previous Micro FourThirds models - the G1, GH1 and GF1 - meanwhile will receive a new firmware update on 10 May. The update brings improved autofocus performance with lenses of other manufacturers, says Panasonic.
In the case of the GH1 update, the new firmware also brings autofocus performance in full HD movide recording with FourThirds lenses that are compatible with contrast AF, according to Panasonic. It will also allow for improved autofocus in movie recording using the Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm lens.
