The Inge Morath Foundation, in association with the Magnum Foundation, has awarded two $5000 cash prizes to two female documentary photographers - Claire Martin and Lurdes Basoli

Author: Olivier Laurent

For the first time, Magnum Photos members have chosen to reward two photographers with a 2010 Inge Morath Award, which comes with a grant of $5000.

Claire Martin won for her "ongoing documentation of marginalised communities within prosperous nations," the Inge Morath Foundation says. The social worker turned photographer started her photographic career in 2007 with a first body of work dealing with addiction and poverty. She was also selected as an Emerging Talent for Reportage by Getty Images.

Lurdes Basoli won for her project "Caracas, the City of Lost Bullets", which was presented at the Noorderlicht Photofestival in Holland. She lives and works in Barcelona.

The two photographers were selected by the attending members of Magnum Photos' annual general meeting on 27 June in New York.
