Canon has updated its Pixma printer range with seven new models, adding the ability to print single frames from moving image footage.
The Full HD Movie Print Function software allows users to print single frames from HD video captured on Canon DSLRs or digital still cameras. The software minimises the artefacts present in each print by analysing the frames before and after the chosen moment. In addition, some of the printers in the range offer wireless connectivity, allowing users to print from iPhone and Android devices as well as the PlayStation 3, home computers and laptops. All seven printers will be available from 08 October, and prices range from £329 including VAT for the Pixma MG8150 to £59 including VAT for the entry-level MP280.
The printers head up a raft of new consumer products from Canon, including several new compact cameras. The IXUS 100 HS marks 10 years of IXUS products, and offers a 10 megapixel CMOS sensor with a DIGIC 4 processor. It can shoot at up to ISO6400 and offers full HD video capture. Available from September, it’s priced at £349 including VAT. The PowerShot S95, meanwhile, includes a 10 megapixel CCD sensor and DIGIC 4 processing, plus a low light setting that allows users to capture images from ISO 320-12,800. It’s the first Canon compact to feature Hybrid IS technology, providing improved image stabilisation for macro photography. The PowerShot S95 is available from now, and retails at £399 including VAT.
Canon has also launched another new printer, the Selphy CP800. Replacing the Selphy CP780, it’s a compact, easy-to-use product that prints images fast and retails at £99. Canon has also introduced two new scanners, the CanoScan LiDE 210 and the CanoScan LiDE 110. The 210 model can scan A4 300dpi images at approximately 10 seconds rather than the 14 seconds required by the 200 model it replaces. The 110 replaces the 100 model and takes A4 300dpi scanning time down to 16 seconds from 24 seconds. Both scanners include image-correction software and are available from September. The CanoScan LiDE 210 will be on sale for £95 including VAT and the CanoScan LiDE 110 for £75 including VAT.
