The winners in all seven categories of the Epson-sponsored FEP European Professional Photographer of the Year Awards were revealed today.
Portugese photographer André Boto collected two firsts, in Commercial and Illustrative, while the rest were divided between shooters from the Czech Republic, Ireland, Belgium and Spain, and the International category went to Jen Hillenga from the US.
The Federation of European Photographers (a network of 23 National Professional Photographers Associations from 20 European countries, recognised by the EU and officially registered in Belgium) named the top 10 in each category, and the winners in each will now go forward to the final judging for the overall FEP Euopean Photographer of the Year Award, which will be announced on 22 September at the Photokina trade show in Cologne. The winning pictures from the winner, second and third place in each category will also be printed by Epson and will be exhibited at the Epson stand at Photokina. The print collection will then travel throughout major European countries and will also be exhibited at the FEP Congress in Lyon next February.
The contest received nearly 700 entries from 25 countries, which were judged by photographers Neil Warner (FEP president), Belen Caballero, Davide Cerati, Pierre Delaunay, Peter Mathis, Enrique Oliver Tortosa and Henk van Kooten, along with Ivana Matejkova (FEP vice president).
