BJP takes a quick look at the Fujifilm FinePix X100 camera, which is the most-talked about camera unveiled, so far, at Photokina - video and images

Author: Olivier Laurent

Fuji does it again !

Just like 1974 all over again, this would look great beside my ST 701

Why stop there?

Hopefully this represents a toe in the water from the brilliant but mercurial Fuji.

The M4/3 system has shown that there is a huge demand for smaller bodied cameras producing high IQ images. This is also reflected in roadmap comments from Canon.

An interchangeable lens system based around the X100 body would surely be a winner.

Manual focus

I posted a comment previously (based on published specifications) which pointed out the fact that the X100 did not have manual focus well it would appear I am wrong judging from the photos I have just seen.
So now I wait to see if this at last is the camera I have been waiting for a compact with a TTL view and manual focussing.

Size Comparison

If anyone is wondering about how the X100's size compares to some of its peers, here it is:

And the winner is...

In first position is the new hot X100 and way back in second is the G12 and third is the P7000. I just want one. With those killer retro looks and spec what is there not to like. I am a professional Canon user and why is this so hard to produce a no nonsense pocket rocket!! Not all consumers want an all singing all dancing GPS multibuttoned go faster stripped camera like the G12 & P7000. It's all about that split second, a lens and operator. Have we got it here?
