This year's International Photography Award was the most controversial yet, and you can meet the photographers on 04 November at the AOP Gallery.

Come on down to the AOP Gallery, East London, on 04 November, 6.30pm-9.30pm and see the International Photography Award winners and their work.

Peter DiCampo, who won the body of work prize for his project, Life Without Lights, is flying in from Ghana to be at the Private View, and will explain more about the project in person. Shot entirely at night, the project shows life in rural Ghana, where the sun sets at 6pm and rises at 6am every night, but where mains electricity is rare. People improvise with torches and mobile phones but, says DiCampo, they're well aware of the economic impact of living without light.

Michelle Sank, who is a tutor at the University of Falmouth, won the single image prize with a shot taken on the Golden Mile, Durban. It's proved the most controversial winner the IPA has ever produced, so BJP is very happy to say that Sank will also be at the Private View to talk through her work in person.

The exhibition is on show from 02 - 06 November at the AOP Gallery, 81 Leonard Street, London EC2A 4QS. The exhibition is printed by Spectrum Photographic, one of Europe's leading fine art printers, and also sponsored by Sigma and Nikon, who are giving away two prizes to the winners. The IPA will be back next year, so look out for details.
