Lisa Devlin has scooped first prize in the BJP's inaugural Unveiled competition, which was run in conjunction with Wedding magazine, Hasselblad UK and the Pro Centre.
Devlin's images were picked out by Julia Ford, art director of Wedding magazine, who praised their fresh take on contemporary marriage, stating: "There was a high calibre of entries, which of course made judging the competition a real joy. But I was looking for something that would really appeal to modern brides as well as being a striking image. Lisa's entry felt natural yet was a lovely composition and showed great use of tone and colour. I look forward to publishing her work."
Ford and her editor, Catherine Westwood, will publish the above image in Wedding magazine next year, ensuring Devlin's work will be seen by thousands of prospective brides and their partners. Devlin also wins a free week's hire at Pro Centre, which includes access to a Hasselblad camera, lights and accessories and any other kit of her choice.
Lisa Devlin is a wedding, commercial and portrait photographer based in Brighton, who shot music and editorial photography for a decade before turning her hand to marriage. Her work has previously been published in Wedding and You and Your Wedding magazines, as well as the influential blog Rock n Roll Bride. She describes her specialities as fresh, modern reportage style and vintage wedding photography.
Firstly - well done Lisa, that's a great picture.
But the BJP are trying it on here - allowing a commercial publication like Wedding magazine to use your pic - presumably for free and describing it as part of the prize is disgraceful.
