Sony has announced the upcoming release of a clip-on LCD monitor designed to help photographers and filmmakers shoot HD video footage from HD-DSLRs
Author: Olivier Laurent
The CLM-V55 is a portable video monitor featuring a five-inch high-resolution WVGA LCD panel that can be attached to most Interchangeable Lens Digital cameras and compatible HD camcorders via a supplied adaptor, says Sony.
The panel is said to display video footage during shooting/playback with excellent clarity and a wide viewing angle. It can be oriented at "any angle for comfortable framing in any position," claims Sony.
The CLM-V55 features a control wheel to allow for quick adjustment of settings such as aspect ration, volume, brightness, contrast, colour tone and colour temperature. It sports a headphone jack for accurate audio monitoring during shooting and connects to the camera using a HDMI cable.
The panel can also be attached, using the supplied adaptor, to a tripod, or mounted on the camera's hotshoe. The CLM-V55 comes with a detachable LCD hood for viewing when shooting in bright light.
The LCD panel will be available from March. Price has yet to be communicated.
