UK photographers will soon be able to get their hands on Fujifilm's new "high-quality" compact camera - the FinePix X100 - as the camera is set to be the star of this year's Focus On Imaging trade show in Birmingham

Fujifilm's FinePix X100 was the star of the Photokina trade show in Germany last autumn, and is expected to draw crowds when it comes to Birmingham in March.
The camera features a 12.3megapixel APS-C sized CMOS sensor, a Fujinon 23mm f/2 fixed focal length lens and a newly-developed Hybrid Viewfinder. Aimed at professional photographers, the FinePix X100 has been designed "to appeal to the millions of DSLR users who need a slim back-up camera for high quality in-fill shots when the use of a bigger SLR system is either inconvenient or impractical," says Fujifilm.
Fujifilm now says that the camera will be on show at Focus On Imaging for four days from 06 March, allowing UK photographers to get, for the first time, their hands on the new model, ahead of its expected launch.
While Fujifilm has so far declined to communicate an exact shipping date and price, BJP understands that the X100 will be priced at $1200 in the US and up to £1200 in the UK.
Focus On Imaging runs from 06-09 March. For more details, and to register for the event, visit www.focus-on-imaging.co.uk.

If it holds true to what I'm expecting of this camera, I'm certainly buying one.
Then I hope FujiFilm release others like this.
Parkcameras has this for pre-order for £999, I hope the UK price is closer to this than the list price of £1200 that the BJP states. Price seems the biggest sticking point on the various forums.

If it's £1200 that puts it a stones throw from a used Leica M8, with access to all those lenses from Leica and 3rd party.
