War photographers have only one week left to enter this year's Bayeux Calvados Awards for War Correspondents

Author: Olivier Laurent

Now in its 18th year, the Bayeux Calvados Awards for War Correspondents will take place from 03 to 09 October in Bayeux, France, but photographers have only until 10 June to enter the contest.

Journalists and photographers are invited to submit entries in six categories - Written Press, Television, Radio, Grand Format Television, Young Reporter and Photography; the latter offering a €7000 cash prize.

Entries in the photography category must comprise a single report made up of eight to 15 images. Young photographers can also enter The Young Reporter's Award, which covers all four media types - written press, radio, photo and television.

Last year, the prize went to Véronique De Viguerie for her work in the Niger Delta, where she followed Atteke Tom, leader of the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta.

Entry to the contest is free. For more information, visit www.prixbayeux.org.

War photography "contest"?

Is it just me, or does anyone else find the idea of a war photography contest obscene?
