British Journal of Photography has been nominated for three awards in the UK's most prestigious magazine awards, little more than a year after its radical transformation from a weekly to a monthly

The PPA Awards today announced that BJP has been shortlisted in the Specialist Consumer Magazine of the Year category alongside Elle Decoration, Mojo, Wired and 11 other titles, including Country Living and Sunday Times Travel Magazine.

Deputy editor Diane Smyth is up for Writer of the Year and BJP's art editor Mick Moore will compete for Designer of the Year. Both nominations are in Consumer Media categories, where they will compete with titles such as Radio Times, Grazia, Mojo, GQ, Jamie, Wired, Top Gear and Elle.

Incisive Media, publisher of BJP, is also nominated in four further categories.

The PPA Awards are run by the Periodical Publishers Association, and are recognised as the ultimate accolade for British magazines.

Magazines shortlisted in the Specialist Consumer Magazine of the Year must demonstrate "audience retention or growth, robust market share and competitive positioning, as well as sound commercial results... built on a foundation of outstanding editorial and design, together with a sure understanding of the needs of its audience."
