How would you like to get your work in front of Charlotte Cotton, creative director of the National Media Museum? Or Monica Allende, picture editor of the Sunday Times Magazine? Now’s your chance, with the BJP’s International Photography Award.
We’ve now finalised our judges for the competition, which is split into two categories. The series category will be judged by Charlotte Cotton, along with Alexia Singh, editor-in-charge, wider image desk, ThomsonReuters, and Stuart Smith, the photobook designer and editor who has worked with Adam Broomberg and Oliver Chanarin, Martin Parr, James Nachtwey, James Mollison and Gideon Mendel. The single image category will be judged by Monica Allende, along with Lauren Heinz, from HOST Gallery, and Hannah Watson, co-director Trolley Books.
The International Photography Award has no theme, and open to all photographers from any part of the world. The winners in both categories will have their work printed and framed by Spectrum Photo, one of Europe’s leading photographic labs, and displayed at HOST Gallery in November; the winner of the series prize also wins a Nikon D700 plus a 50mm 1.4G Nikkor lens, and the winner of the single image prize a Sigma DP1x digital compact camera. Entry for the series category costs £25, and for the single image category £5; the deadline for both categories is 9am, 15 September. For more details, and to enter the prize, click here.
The image above is taken from Peter DiCampo's project, Life Without Lights, which won the series category in the 2010 IPA. DiCampo is represented by the VII Network, and works for clients such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Time and Vanity Fair.
