Now in its second year, the Copenhagen Photo Festival brings the work of Danish and international photographers to Denmark's capital city "with photo exhibitions in metro trains, in major streets in the city, at the town hall square, in Carlsberg and in galleries and museums," for 10 days from 09 June.
"We wish to create a festival at a high artistic level and with international aim and yet, maintain a popular appeal," says Rasmus Ranum, the festival managing director and founder. "Therefore the festival will be visible in the urban space so that people outside the narrow art world can open their eyes to the potential of photography. But we do not compromise on quality."
The "heart and epicentre" of the festival will be Photo City - an exhibition area of more than 5000 square-metres at the Carlsberg premises. The space will host dozens of exhibitions from established and emerging Danish and international photographers, artist talks and photo walks.
Among the photographers on display are Elise Boularan, Emilie Lundstrøm, Gavin Davis, Getty Images, Jakob Carlsen, Jamil GS, Jasper Carlberg, Jens Astrup, Kajsa Björnberg, Ken Hermann, Kristian Holm, Kristian Sæderup, Mads Greve, Martin Bubandt, Mette Frandsen, Jens Astrup, Cornelia Gramkow, Mette Juul, Kim W. Catton, Mette Muhli, Nikolaj Møller, Nikolaj Palmskov, Nina Worren, Pelle Rink, Pernille Ringsing, Pierre Winther, Sara Skorgan Teigen, Søren Rønholt, Søren Solkær Starbird, Thomas Skou, Trine Christensen, Anton Perich and the Spanish group show Here and Now - Documentary Photography in Contemporary Spain.
Another main exhibition - dubbed 5 x Personal Projects will take over Øksnehallen in Copenhagen with five danish photojournalists are all showing their personal projects from all around the world.
This year the photographers are Christian Holst, Thomas Lekfeldt, Jonathan Bjerg Møller, Maria Fonfara and Mads Nissen.
Galleri Eros will present, as part of the festival's satellite exhibitions, a retrospective of Freddy Tornberg's Erotic Handcolored Photographs. Meanwhile, the Royal Danish Arsenal Museum will be hosting the exhibition After the storm?, which shows 13 danish contemporary artists' reflections "on the existentialistic questions that seem to follow turbulent events in photo and video."

Cheap, easy and horrible, the image for the Copenhagen Photo festival.
And an attack on women too.
