Young documentary photographers have less than a month to enter this year's Ian Parry Scholarship, which comes with a £3000 grant and a nomination for the prestigious Joop Swart Masterclass

Author: Olivier Laurent

The Ian Parry Scholarship awards "young documentary photographers with a bursary that will enable them to undertake a chosen project and raise their profile in the international photographic community."

The award was set up by Aidan Sullivan of Getty Images in memory of photojournalist Ian Parry, who died in 1989 aged 24 when covering the Romanian revolution for the Sunday Times.

The contest is opened to full-time photographic students and photographers under 24. The overall winner will receive a £3000 grant for the production of an assignment. Runners-up will receive £500. The winner will also see his or her name added to the nominees for the World Press Photo Joop Swart Masterclass.

Photographers have until 30 June to enter by submitting a digital portfolio of 12 images with a synopsis of a project they would undertake if they won the award.

Last year, the prize went to Sebastian Liste.
