The exhibit - 9/11: A Uniform Response - is a collaboration between the Associated Press and The New York City Police Museum and honours the New York City Police Department and first responders on 9/11.
The 30 images on show depict "the morning of the attacks, the courageous response in the days and weeks afterward, the long road to recovery and the building of 1 World Trade Center, formerly known as the Freedom Tower, the rising symbol of rebirth at ground zero." The images are taken from AP's archives.
"Photojournalism captures moments in time and emotions in a powerful and impactful way," says Julie Bose, executive director of The New York City Police Museum. "We hope the exhibit offers visitors a chance to remember the courage and bravery that the first responders showed the world that day."
Santiago Lyon, the AP's director of photography, adds: "The AP photos, including a few taken by our colleagues at great personal risk, capture frightening scenes of 9/11 and depict the valor of the NYPD." Photographers include Suzanne Plunkett, Gulnara Samoilova and Marty Lederhandler.
9/11: A Uniform Response will on show at The New York City Police Museum from 09 September to 16 January 2012.
