Blurb has announced this year's winners in the fourth annual Photography Book Now competition.
Valerio Spada, one of more than 2300 entrants, was selected by an international panel of judges and won the grand prize of $25,000. His book, Gomorrah Girl, depicts adolescence in the Camorrah (the name of the Mafia in Naples).
"The book is simply the sum of a long time spent in the streets of Naples and a short time in the bookmaking phase, but what came after that is pure happiness," said Spada.
Darius Himes, one of the judges, said Gomorrah Girl stood apart as the Grand Prize winner. Himes also referred to the entry as "book-centric". Spada will be honoured on 15 September at the Aperture Gallery in New York City along with 12 other category winners.
