The Mexican Suitcase, a documentary shot by Trisha Ziff, will be shown in major documentary festivals in both New York and Los Angeles over the next two weeks.
However, Ziff is now turning to Kickstarter, appealing for funds to help her show the story of her discovery of a suitcase filled with negatives shot during the Spanish Civil War by celebrated photographers and war photography legends Gerda Taro, Robert Capa and David "Chim" Seymour.
In 2007, the negatives were recovered from the then Mexican Ambassador to Vichy France's belongings.
Throughout the film, Ziff works 300 of these images into a storyboard that also examines the lives and work of the photographers and the after-effects of the Spanish Civil War.
Donations are being accepted until 17 September on the Kickstarter website.
