The Third Floor Gallery has unveiled plans to expand from one gallery space to two, as it launches a call for donations.
The new space, located on the second floor of the gallery's premises, would also include a digital darkroom, as well as a dedicated space for community usage. "This expansion would mean that a larger number of people would benefit from the gallery, and development of photography in South Wales would benefit from [a new] space dedicated to newer, emerging artists."
Having a second space would also mean that "we'd never have to close for hanging: one of the two spaces would always have an exhibition and therefore we'd be open," one of the gallery's foudner, Joni Karanka, tells BJP.
The Third Floor Gallery needs to raise £12,000, which will go towards paying for a new lease, the refurbishment of the space and the creation of a second programme of exhibitions.
The gallery also plans to increase its relations with young people and photography students in Cardiff with the organisation of dedicated exhibitions, workshops and events.
The gallery is also looking for "sponsors" that will be able to match all online donations pledged between 05 and 09 December as part of the Big Give's Christmas Challenge.

Hi Pam
We just meant a space for printing from digital files. We have a large scale printer, space for trimming, etc. In the future we hope we'd have also find a good opportunity to get a scanner. If the wording bothers you, do please come up with any alternatives, as they'll be appreciated :o)
If you were enquiring about a traditional wet darkroom, we just wouldn't have the space and money to run it, plus Ffotogallery already provides this service.
