Professional photographers can now enter this year's edition of the Leica Oskar Barnack Award

Author: Olivier Laurent

The Leica Oskar Barnack Award is back, and photographers wishing to take part can submit their photographic projects online until 01 March.

Now in its 33rd year, the prize has become a key event in the photographic calendar, with the winner announced in a high-profile ceremony at the Rencontres d'Arles festival in July.

The winner will receive a Leica M9-P camera with lens worth more than €10,000 in addition to a cash prize of €5000.

The contest is also awarding a new or emerging photographer aged 25 and under, who will receive a Leica M9-P with a lens.

"Submissions must be a self-contained series of images in which the photographer perceives and documents the interaction between man and their environment with acute vision and contemporary visual style - creative, unobtrusive and groundbreaking," says Leica.
