The work of award-winning photographers Tim Hetherington and Lynsey Addario will be exhibited together for the first time at the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, Norway from 10 February

Author: Joanna Cresswell

The exhibition In Afghanistan will focus on different aspects of the country and its conflict, from the lives of American soldiers stationed at a remote military outpost to the ongoing challenges that Afghan women face.

British war photographer Tim Hetherington's photo series Infidel will be on display, providing a rare portrait of masculinity, camaraderie and vulnerability among American infantry soldiers. The 53 images on show are the result of the nine months Hetherington lived alongside soldiers at a base in the remote Korengal valley in 2007. Hetherington was killed during a mortar attack in Libya in April 2011.

VII Photo member Lynsey Addario will exhibit her project Veiled Rebellion for the first time. The project is an intimate portrait of women's lives in a patriarchal society with the 34 final images reflecting the 11 years she spent photographing women in Afghanistan.

There will also be three episodes of the Kabul Cards video diaries on show. Anders Sømme Hammer and Christoffer Næss worked with three girls wanting to change their society in Kabul, giving them hand-held cameras and working with them on documenting their lives.

The exhibition will run from 10 February to 22 April. For more details, visit nobelpeacecenter.org.
