Following its acquisition of Pentax, Ricoh is to shift the production of its cameras to the Pentax Ricoh Imaging Company, the firm has confirmed today
Author: Olivier Laurent
The team that formerly made up Pentax's digital imaging business is set to take the lead in the production of Ricoh's upcoming cameras.
Less than six months after announcing that its acquisition of Pentax, Ricoh has moved to reorganise its digital imaging business. While Ricoh's digital cameras were previously manufactured by the Personal Multimedia Product Company at Ricoh, they will now be designed, developed and sold by Pentax Ricoh Imaging Company, giving Pentax unprecedented power to shape Ricoh's portfolio of cameras.
The shift will be effective from 01 April and should allow the company to "strengthen customer relationships and provide innovative products and services," it says in a statement.
The restructure comes a week after Pentax unveiled its second compact mirrorless interchangeable lens camera - the K-01.
