Now in its 19th year, the Bayeux Calvados Awards for War Correspondents will take place from 08 to 14 October in Bayeux, France, but photographers have only until 08 June to enter the contest.
Journalists and photographers are invited to submit entries in six categories - Written Press, Television, Radio, Grand Format Television, Young Reporter and Photography; the latter offering a €7000 cash prize.
Entries in the photography category must comprise a single report made up of eight to 15 images. Young photographers can also enter The Young Reporter's Award, which covers all four media types - written press, radio, photo and television.
Magnum photographer Gilles Peress will chair this year's jury. "His work and books have probably had the greatest influence on young generations of photographers since 1980," say the organisers.
Last year, the main photography prizes went to Yuri Kozyrev for his work covering the Arab Spring for Time Magazine.
Entry to the contest is free. For more information, visit www.prixbayeux.org.
