British Journal of Photography has won the "Best Use of Mobile Award" at the British Media Awards for its acclaimed iPad app
Author: Olivier Laurent
British Journal of Photography's iPad app launched in September 2011 and has since been recognised as one of the best editorial applications available for Apple's iPad. Last night, it won the "Best Use of Mobile" award at the inaugural British Media Awards.
"I am delighted that the British Journal of Photography app has been recognised at the British Media Awards, and especially when up against such stiff competition as The Economist and Citywire," says Marc Hartog, group publishing director. "The team have worked hard to bring a completely new version of BJP to the tablet and we have stuck to our guns in terms of making it a completely immersive and interactive experience, worthy of a premium price. With downloads now topping 150,000 and paid subscribers getting close to the number of print subscribers, we are excited about the future and it is great that the British Media Awards judges agreed".
Incisive Media chief executive Tim Weller adds that he's thrilled with the award which showed how the company is at the cutting edge of the digital media revolution: "I would like to congratulate the BJP team led by Marc Hartog and editor Simon Bainbridge but in particular the App design team composed of Mick Moore, Tom Royal and Nicky Brown, who have been so instrumental in building such a beautiful product that has just passed 150,000 downloads."
BJP's iPad app is produced on the Mag+ platform. Issue #3, which has been optimised for the new iPad's retina display, is available now priced £6.99/€7.99/$9.99. A 50 page preview is also available to download free. A six-month subscription is still available at the launch offer price of £9.99/€10.99/$13.99.
