Sebastian Liste will see his work, Urban Quilombo, exhibited at this year's Visa Pour l'Image photojournalism festival in Perpignan.
The City of Perpignan Rémi Ochlik Award, formerly known as the City of Perpignan Young Reporter Award, was renamed following Ochlik's death in Syria earlier this year. Ochlik had been discovered at Visa in 2004, when one of his features about Haiti was shown at the festival.
"For us, the concept of a young photographer – a talented young photographer – was synonymous with the name of Rémi Ochlik," said Jean-François Leroy, the festival's director. "The mayor of Perpignan, Jean-Marc Pujol, therefore considered that the city's award should be renamed the City of Perpignan Rémi Ochlik Award."
The award is given to a young photographer who, in the jury's opinion, "has produced the best report, either published or unpublished, in 2011/2012". Liste produced Urban Quilombo from 2009 to March 2011.
