Sinar has released its new eXact digital back, which it claims can shoot images at a top resolution of 192 megapixels

Author: Olivier Laurent

Sinar is introducing a new medium format digital back, fitted with a 48.8-megapixel sensor measuring 48.0 x 36.0mm.

The eXact back can shoot images at a variety of resolutions, ranging from 12 megapixels to 192 megapixels, using the XL four-shot mode.

The back also offers an XL 16-shot mode, which is said to sample real colours from the subject for each half-pixel step in both direction.

"This method provides un-interpolated colour sampling for cleaner and more accurate colours with greater contour sharpness."

The back has a sensitivity range of ISO50 to ISO800 and can shoot up to 13 images per minute.

Pricing and availability have yet to be determined.

How cool is that?

Nobody else offers such a cool green LED on the upper right corner and such a sparkling mid-eighties design. - 2012 will definitely be the year of the retro-cams! The Leica Monochrom was just the beginning... Or was it the Olympus OM-D? Never mind, yesterday fits anyway. By midst decembre we're all going to order 200 rolls of Tri-X again.

irrelevant

Obviously this back is designed for tethered use only. What use is a crappy 3" LCD when you are shooting 192Mp images? Green light is good enough for me.

Hey Dad-

Buy me one. Then my lousy photos will go sky high!

Once folks see I've got this Big Gun they'll love my "work".

Sinar... it's still here?

I thought Sinar was bankrupt or became Chinese.
