Next week, thousands of photographers will converge on Cologne for Photokina, to get their hands on the latest cameras, lenses, tripods and accessories. British Journal of Photography will be there too, testing the best new products and interviewing key experts on the future of photography. To mark the occasion, BJP will be also be producing daily editions of its popular new iPhone app.
From 17 to 20 September, BJP's Special Photokina editions will provide the latest updates from the world's most important photographic trade show. Each edition will feature exclusive content that won't be available anywhere else – news reports, first tests, interviews, videos, and more, and all of it will be free.
Today, a new issue of the BJP iPhone app has also hit the App Store, which includes BJP's award-winning content, re-imagined for the iPhone.
This free issue includes a special feature on the iPhone and its camera, which has become a popular device among photographers. The camera's short focal lens isn't always ideal, but a variety of manufacturers have since released lens converters built specifically for the iPhone. Kevin Carter takes a look at the best high-quality optics available, and how they can be used to improve iPhoneography.
Publisher Reuel Golden also talks about London. Portrait of A City. In the latest addition to TASCHEN's popular series, Golden reveals the story, character and ambience of London through photographs, essays, quotes and illustrations. "We are telling the whole story of London: the architecture, the street life, key historical events such as World War Two, the fashion, the music, diversity, even the immigrant experience and, hopefully, the soul of the city," says Golden.
BJP's iPhone app can be downloaded from the App Store.
