Nikon has pledged to honour all camera repairs submitted by Jessops customers as the UK's largest camera retail chain flounders
Author: Olivier Laurent
"Nikon UK would like to assure Jessops customers that we are actively working with the administrators and plan to undertake all outstanding repairs as quickly as possible," says the camera manufacturer in a statement released today. "Nikon UK can confirm that we will also be honouring any repairs under Jessops' Photo + extended warranty scheme."
Nikon plans to contact all its customers directly regarding their repairs, but has also issued a number for any enquiries. The number is 0330 123 0928.
The move comes as Jessops has entered administration after several years of difficult trading conditions. The company's position also deteriorated in the run-up to Christmas as a result of reduced confidence in UK retail. "Despite additional funding being made available to the company by the funders, this has meant that Jessops has not generated the profits it had planned with a consequent impact on its funding needs. This was exacerbated by a credit squeeze in the supplier base," says PricewaterhouseCoopers, which has been appointed to administer the struggling company.
