Professional development for photographers most often relates to technical or creative aspects of the job, but there are many complex financial issues that are crucial to maintaining a successful practice. For this edition of The Social, The Photographers' Gallery has invited two professionals with industry experience to offer advice on various aspects of accounting for photographers.

The Social is a regular bar night organised with British Journal of Photography offering tips and advice in the world of photography. Enjoy a drink and listen to two specialists give advice about the topic for the evening.

This evening, from 6.30pm, photographer Laura Pannack, and Terry Hyman, a consultant at the London based accounting practice Simia Wall, will offer their advice.

Entry to the event is free. For more details, visit The Photographers' Gallery website.

Professional Photography

It is good to see these events on the many different aspects of Professional Photography which often get overlooked by educational courses.

My own personal bugbear is marketing and my inability to get to grips with it and I'm sure that's true for many photographers in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
