The guy with the grey hat in the front row is me. I have been to plenty of photography talks and this was by far the most inspiring. At the end the audience created a massive and well deserved roar of applause which seemed to go on forever. This man has enhanced my love for photography and his story should be published as one of the key texts for street photography. Thank you so much Joel, it was a pleasure spending some time with you at the festival. And once again, happy birthday! (this talk took place on Joel’s birthday)
If anyone deserves the title "living legend" its this guy. It was a great talk from a great guy, so talented and inspiring to listen to. Is there anywhere the whole 2 hours is uploaded to??
I was fortunate enough to be able to attend this 'Masterclass' on street photography. Joel is a very modest photographer, who still has his feet on the ground and is able to inspire no matter what level of photographer you are. Many Thanks Joel! it was a morning i will never forget, and was made even more memorable by allowing us to share your Birthday.
Great! one little thing, in a 1981 docu on Joel Mey. he tells that it wasnt exactly the I QUIT immedeatly, he just grew to it over a longer periode..going out on lunchbreaks to make pics.
look at the doc at in-public, youll see 4 urself!
BUT! Joel is one of the greatest, so i dont mind him Hollywoodising his story! He has the credit to do it.
