Video emerges of police detaining press photographer

A video showing the Monday arrest of a press photographer in front of Parliament has emerged

The incident, which took place on Monday, saw police officers remove Justin Tallis from the scene of the Pro-Tamil protest outside of the House of Commons. Tallis was covering the protesters, who had tried to stage a sit-in on one of the square's busy road.

Now, a video of the incident has been released. Shot by Jason Parkinson, the video shows the police officers apply force to prevent the photographer from doing his job. It can be viewed on Marc Vallée's blog here. Vallée, who was present during the incident writes: 'I saw officers violently remove Justin and take him to a police van near Westminster Bridge. Justin was later released from the van after the intervention of photographers and journalists on the ground and with the help of Jeremy Dear, NUJ general secretary via phone.'
