Book your entry to $25k prize

Photographers have just a month to enter a contest focusing on self-published photobook designs, which comes with a huge cash prize.

Launched by online publishing company Blurb, and run in partnership with BJP, Photography.Book.Now offers the winning photographer $25,000 to start or finish a project of their choice.

Three categories are open for submissions - fine art, editorial and commercial - judged by photography book expert Darius Himes and jury panel of editors, gallery curators, publishers and professional photographers. Each category winner will also receive a private portfolio review with members of the judging panel. Other prizes for runners-up will include Wacom, X-Rite and Canon equipment, as well as Blurb vouchers.

A social event will also be organised in New York, San Francisco, Chicago and London showcasing the winning entries and offering photographers the chance to meet with jurors and industry peers, including BJP's editors in London.

Last year Beth Dow from the US received the grand prize for her project In The Garden. She presented a book-length portfolio of large platinum-palladium prints photographed in formal English and Italian gardens. Dow's images examine mass, light and perspective and are part of spiritual journey in search of historical concepts of paradise.

Hundreds of photography books have already been submitted to the 2009 competition, according to Blurb. The deadline for entries is 16 July.
