British Journal of Photography, in association with Canon, launched the first UK HD-DSLR Awards, open to all kinds of HD-DSLR films, from documentaries and commercial promos to creative films.

The inaugural Open Shutter Awards celebrated the emergence of filmmaking using an HD-DSLR and rewarded those photographers and filmmakers who embrace the new convergence of technology to express their creativity and innovation beyond the still image.

Aimed at all UK-based photographers and film-makers, Open Shutter aims to encourage excellence in the fast-developing world of convergent image capture, recognising the best films and multimedia works shot on HD-DSLRs such as Canon’s EOS 5D Mark II. The introduction of broadcast-quality HD video to the latest generation of DSLR cameras has democratised filmmaking, rendering movie capture truly affordable and opening new creative opportunities.

THE WINNER
