Offering courses in art, design, architecture, media and performance, we are passionate about our specialist subjects and dedicated both to education and the creative industries which we serve.

AUB is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from all candidates irrespective of age, disability, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief, or marital or civil partnership status. We would particularly welcome applications from women and black and minority ethnic candidates so that we are able to make the best appointment from a greater range of diverse applicants.

We wish to recruit a Photographic Historian/Theorist with a broad knowledge of global contemporary photographic practices.

The post is advertised as both Lecturer and Senior Lecturer level. However, we are only recruiting to one post and the level of appointment will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience. For the specific qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience in relation to the two levels of post please refer to the relevant job description and person specification attached.

You will ideally have previous Higher Education teaching experience and an established research profile and must be conversant with the medium’s theories and debates. You will be a committed team member and effective communicator, sharing our passion for all aspects of photographic education and practice with a commitment to a student-centred approach.

Photography at the Arts University is internationally renowned and sits in the context of an interdisciplinary institution in the School of Media and Performance. Our extensive resources allow students to engage with photographic practice using a wide range of technologies from analogue to digital, still and moving image. The post holder will be primarily teaching into the BA Hons Photography course, and may be called upon to teach into BA Hons Commercial Photography and MA Photography courses in the future.

You will take responsibility for managing the effective learning of all students, including setting, supervising and assessing written work. You will also contribute to the development of the curriculum and undertake a range of tutorial based learning and pastoral care responsibilities.

Our ideal applicant will have the ability to convey an in-depth knowledge of photographic history and theory within a broad global context. You will come with experience in teaching the photographic medium across all HE levels, including blended learning approaches.
