We are always looking for pitches for Bookshelf, Agenda and Industry Insights.

Why you should write for British Journal of Photography (BJP)

Your article will be seen by our global online audience of 3.5 million readers, and if printed in our bi-monthly magazine, over 5,000 subscribers.

Your article will be promoted on our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram channels, and may be included in our weekly newsletters and app editions.

We work with a team of experienced editors and sub-editors who will work with you to develop your article.

Your byline will include an authors profile, including your photograph and biography, and any links to social platforms you wish to include, so readers can find out more about your work.

Pitching guidelines

Please submit your pitches to editorial@1854.media, with the subject line beginning with ‘PITCH:’ .

All pitches should be timely — hooked to a new exhibition, book release, or political event, for example.

We work at least two weeks in advance for online, and three months in advance for print, so the earlier you pitch, the better.

In your pitch, please include an estimated word count, who you plan to interview, and an idea of the angle of the article. Please also include any relevant imagery.

If we haven’t worked together before, please include some links or PDFs to examples of past written work, or a website.

We run various series of articles both online and in print, which we encourage you to direct your pitches towards, but we are always open to new ideas!

We look forward to hearing from you!
